Vivian Stringer and the 2004 U.S. Women’s Basketball Olympic Team ran its Athens Games record to 2-0 with an 80-61 victory against the Czech Republic Aug. 16. Stringer is serving as an assistant coach for the two-time defending gold medalist U.S. team.

Vivian Stringer and the 2004 U.S. Women’s Basketball Olympic Team kicked off its Athens Games schedule with a 99-47 victory against New Zealand Aug. 14. MAYAGUEZ, PUERTO RICO – Incoming Rutgers freshman Essence Carson (Paterson, NJ) and the U.S. Women’s Basketball Junior National Team won the gold medal at the FIBA Junior World Championship Qualifying Tournament, defeating host Puerto Rico 121-56 Aug. 8 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.

August-07-04 Carson Helps Lead U.S. to 124-49 Victory
MAYAGUEZ, PUERTO RICO – Incoming Rutgers freshman Essence Carson (Paterson, NJ) scored nine points as the U.S. Women’s Basketball Junior National Team rolled to a 124-49 victory against Puerto Rico in the third game of the FIBA World Championship Qualifying Tournament Aug. 6 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.

MAYAGUEZ, PUERTO RICO – Incoming Rutgers freshman Essence Carson (Paterson, NJ) and the U.S. Women’s Basketball Junior National Team defeated Brazil 99-38 in the semifinals of the FIBA World Championship Qualifying Tournament Aug. 7 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers women’s basketball head coach C. Vivian Stringer, who will serve as an assistant coach for the 2004 U.S. Women’s Basketball Olympic Team, will join the team Aug. 3 as the Americans conduct their final practices prior to the Games.
