PISCATAWAY, NJ - Rutgers senior guard Jerome Coleman (Brooklyn, NY) was named to the All-Met Division I men's basketball team (third team) for 2002-03, it was announced by the NIT and Met Basketball Writers Association. The announcement was made at the 70th annual NIT Met Basketball Writer's Association Awards Dinner held at Pegasus Restaurant at the Meadowlands Sports Complex this evening.
Coleman, a 6-2, 190-pound guard, had a tremendously productive two-year at Rutgers after transferring from Cecil Community College in Maryland. Coleman led the Scarlet Knights in scoring each of his two seasons, averaging 16.8 ppg. as a junior and 16.0 ppg. this past season. He scored 971 career points (35th all-time at Rutgers). As a junior, he set the school-record for 3-pointers made and attempted, while finishing his career with 171 career three-pointers made (4th all-time) and 111 steals (tied for 15th all-time). Coleman was named the team’s Co-MVP at the team’s post-season banquet.
