The Pirates (14-9, 8-4) won their seventh straight and swept the season series from Rutgers (11-14, 3-10), leaving the Scarlet Knights in last place in the Big East West Division with three games remaining.
The Pirates' six-game conference winning streak is their longest since winning a school-record eight straight in 1992-93.
Barrett, who added six rebounds and six assists, missed 10 of his first 11 shots before making his final three field goal attempts and going 4-for-4 from the foul line in the final 46.3 seconds.
A foul shot from Rutgers' Herve Lamizana made it 52-52 with 3:14 left in the game. That marked the third tie, along with eight lead changes, in the second half.
Kelly Whitney started the decisive run with two foul shots with 3:00 left. Andre Sweet hit a jumper, and Barrett found Whitney for a reverse layup to make it 58-52 with 1:14 remaining. Barrett closed it by making four straight free throws.
Ricky Shields had 11 points for Rutgers, and the Scarlet Knights played much of the second half without point guard Mike Sherrod and leading scorer Jerome Coleman, who were in foul trouble.
Whitney finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds while John Allen had 10 points.
The Pirates held a 45-31 rebounding advantage over Rutgers, which got 11 points from Ricky Shields.
Rutgers shot 31.6 percent for the game and was 3-for-18 from 3-point range. Seton Hall shot 32 in the second and 41.8 percent overall, and committed 17 turnovers.
The Pirates led 30-25 at the half.

sellout of the season, the 10th of the Gary Waters era and the 44th in the history
of the RAC. The 8,023 is a season-high attendance, eclipsing the previous high
of 8,021 set twice (Virginia, 12/21/02 and West Virginia, 02/15/03) and is the
fifth sellout in the last six home games for the Scarlet Knights. With the an
advanced sellout vs. Notre Dame on Saturday, the 2002-03 Scarlet Knights will
tie the record for sellouts in a single-season with eight previously set during
the 1998-99 campaign.

blocks ties Lamizana for 8th all-time for blocks in a single-game with Gene
Armstead vs. NYU (12/12/70) & Army (2/13/73), Roy Hinson vs. West Virginia
(1/22/83) and Chuck Weiler vs. Rhode Island (1/3/93).
LAMIZANA MOVES UP FIVE PLACES ON SINGLE-SEASON BLOCKS LIST INTO 4TH PLACE
Herve Lamizana rejected eight shots vs. Seton Hall, giving him 78 for the season,
tied for 4th place on Rutgers’ single-season list with Roy Hinson (1978-79),
