The 6-10, 215-pound Lamizana helped lead Rutgers to a 75-72 victory over Boston College on Saturday. Lamizana matched his career high with 22 points on 7-for-10 shooting from the field. He added eight rebounds, a career-high seven assists, three blocks and three steals. He shares this week’s BIG EAST Player of the Week Award with Seton Hall junior guard Andre Barrett.
For Lamizana, it marks the second time in his career he has earned BIG EAST honors. On Jan. 7, 2002, he was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week.
Lamizana is averaging 10.6 ppg., and is the team leader in rebounds (7.0) and blocked shots (3.1), a category in which he is ranked second in the BIG EAST and ninth in the nation.
