Derrick Bird scored 19 points, including nine of 10 free throws, and Kyle Davis added 10 for Auburn (5-1) as the Tigers held Rutgers to 38.2 percent shooting while shooting 57.1 percent.
Ricky Shields scored 19 points to lead Rutgers (3-2). The score was tied 38-38 at halftime. The Tigers outrebounded Rutgers 47-30.
