  • AIR FORCE ACADEMY, CO – Rutgers found itself in early foul trouble, fell behind by 11 points at the half and saw its four-game winning streak come to an end as Air Force posted a 70-53 win over the Scarlet Knights.

Air Force guard Tim Keller made his first four 3-point attempts and finished with 12 points, to help the Falcons extend their home winning streak to 17 games. Keller also had five assists for the Falcons and Antoine Hood added 12 points for Air Force.

The Scarlet Knights, who defeated previously undefeated Kansas State of the Big 12 Conference on Tuesday, were looking to be streak-busters again but it was not to be as the Scarlet Knights played in constant foul trouble.

Freshman forward Ollie Bailey, who averages 14 points and five rebounds, scored the game's first bucket, then left five minutes later with two fouls and then picked up his third foul late in the first half. He finished with two points and one rebound, marking just the second time in his 10-game career that he has not scored in double figures. Due to the foul trouble, Bailey played just eight minutes. Senior guard Ricky Shields also picked up three first half fouls and, like Bailey, was forced to sit for long stretches of the game.

Aided by Rutgers’ foul troubles, Air Force ran its slow-down, Princeton-style effectively, rarely letting Rutgers get into any kind of flow. Shields had 12 points on four three-point baskets and sophomore guard Quincy Douby had 10 for the Scarlet Knights.

Douby, who also played in foul trouble, shot 4-for-14 and Shields made all four of his baskets from 3-point range. Air Force finished 10-for-24 from 3-point range and most of the attempts came with the shot clock in single digits.

Junior center Jimmie Inglis turned in his fourth consecutive solid outing, tallying eight points and pulling down six rebounds. Rutgers out-rebounded Air Force 29-21, and shot 45% from the floor (11-of-22, 50% in the second half).
