  • NEW YORK, NY – Rutgers senior guard Ricky Shields was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Second Team by a vote of the league’s head coaches, it was announced today at the conference’s annual Media Day, held at Madison Square Garden.

    Shields, a 6-4, 190-pound senior guard from Upper Marlboro, MD, is the Scarlet Knights’ leading returning scorer, averaging 15.5 points per game last season. He enters his senior season with 1,202 career points and has a chance to crack the top 10 all-time in career points at Rutgers. Shields averaged 19.6 ppg. during the Scarlet Knights’ run to the NIT Championship Game last season, including a career-high 26-point outburst vs. West Virginia in the second round victory.
