Former Rutgers Basketball Letterwinner Marvin Horn Passes Away

  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Former Rutgers men’s basketball letterwinner Marvin Horn passed away on Tuesday, October 15, at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank at age 90. Horn earned a varsity letter in 1945-46, helping the Scarlet Knights to a 13-7 record under head coach Donald S. White.

    Horn’s teammates “On the Banks” in 1956-46 included George Mackaronis and Frank Burns.

    Born in New Brunswick, N J, Horn lived in Middletown. He served his country during World War II as a Bombadier in the 8th Air Force. He earned his Bachelor’s degree at Rutgers.

    Horn was predeceased by his beloved wife Gloria, and his sister Barbara Fromme. He is survived by his brother Edward Horn, and by his many nieces and nephews.

    A service will be held at the Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum, 900 - Holmdel Road, Holmdel, NJ on Thursday, October 17th at 1:00 P.M. Entombment will then follow in the family crypt. To post an online condolence for the family please visit www.holmdelfuneralhome.com.
