PISCATAWAY, N.J. (June 14, 2013) – Rising junior guard Jerome Seagears (Silver Spring, Md.) has completed the necessary paperwork to return to Rutgers University and compete in men’s basketball. Per NCAA transfer guidelines, Seagears is eligible to return to Rutgers and be immediately eligible for competition for the 2013-14 season.
“I believe everything happens for a reason and God has a plan for everybody,” said Seagears. “I believe this is his plan for me, to return home to my Scarlet Knights. I have experienced a lot of uncertainty over the last several months and I look forward to continuing my college career where it started.”
“We are very excited to welcome Jerome back into the program,” said Rutgers head coach Eddie Jordan. “He is a very talented young man from a wonderful family. I look forward to providing Jerome and his teammates an extremely positive Rutgers experience. We are going to work together and build a program that will be a source of pride for the Rutgers community.”
Seagears, who was granted a transfer release from Rutgers on April 9, played in 63 career games (44 starts) in his initial two seasons “On the Banks.” This past season, he competed in 31 contests (19 starts), averaging 6.5 points and 27.2 minutes-per-game, while dishing-out 81 assists and shooting 38.1 percent (32-84) from behind the arc.
