PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers men’s basketball team earned a perfect academic progress rate (APR) score of 1000 for the 2011-12 academic year. The Scarlet Knights were one of six BIG EAST men’s basketball teams to achieve a perfect score.
Rutgers received a multi-year score of 967, a 15-point improvement over last year’s report (952), which concluded data from the 2010-11 academic year. In 2009-10, the Scarlet Knights posted a 948.
In the multi-year report, Rutgers ranked seventh among BIG EAST men’s basketball programs. The report is based on NCAA Division I APR data submitted by the institution for the 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 academic years.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete. The APR includes eligibility, retention, and graduation in the calculation and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport.
