PISCATAWAY, N.J. (December 10, 2012) - The Rutgers University men’s basketball game versus Rider at the Rutgers Athletic Center on Friday, Dec. 28 will now tip-off at 3 p.m. Originally slated for 7:30, the contest has been moved up to accommodate fans’ ability to view the 2012 Russell Athletic Bowl.
“We felt it was very important that our fans attending the basketball game also had the opportunity to watch the Russell Athletic Bowl against Virginia Tech,” said Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tim Pernetti. “This is a significant day for Rutgers and we want all of our fans to enjoy it. Moving the basketball game involved logistical challenges, but it was the right decision for our fan base.”
The 2012 Russell Athletic Bowl will kick-off at 5:30 p.m. on ESPN from the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla.
The match-up between Rutgers and Rider on the hardwood marks the 16th meeting between the two New Jersey schools dating back to 1947, with the Scarlet Knights holding a 14-1 advantage in victories.
