  • PISCATAWAY, NJ – Junior Graig Badger (Union, NJ) of the Rutgers baseball team was named to the 2003 Verizon Academic All-District II Baseball University Division Team. Badger is a second team selection and the lone Scarlet Knight on either team.

    A Finance major with a 3.31 GPA, Badger is Rutgers’ starting second baseman and leadoff hitter. He is batting .297 this season, but owns a .432 on-base percentage and a team-best 32 steals. His 32 steals are the second-best single-season mark in RU history and just seven shy of Doug Alongi’s 1993 total of 39. Badger leads the team in runs scored with 51 and has eight doubles, three triples, one home run and 25 RBI, all career highs.

    Rutgers, ranked 22nd in the latest Collegiate Baseball poll, has won 18 of its last 20 games entering a Thursday matchup with Delaware. RU is also second in the BIG EAST standings, percentage points behind first-place West Virginia.
