PISCATAWAY, NJ – Junior Jamell Rosario (Vineland, NJ) and sophomore Cory Rodriguez (Bridgewater, NJ), active members of the Rutgers ROTC and the Rutgers baseball team, received impressive honors at the annual ROTC Awards Ceremony, which took place last Friday, May 2, at the College Avenue Student Center.
Rosario, in his second year of activity, earned the Purple Heart for Leadership, given annually to the cadet who demonstrates outstanding leadership qualities. A First Lieutenant in the ROTC, Rosario will participate in the Leadership Training Corps this summer in Fort Knox, Kentucky – an intensive, five-week training session.
Rodriguez earned two awards. He was the recipient of the American Legion Scholar Award, given to a cadet in each class based on GPA, leadership and service. He also received the Superior Cadet Decoration, the only award given by the United States Army. The highest award you can receive as a cadet, it is given to one cadet from each military science (MS) year. Rodriguez, like Rosario, is in his second year with the Rutgers ROTC. He is a First Sergeant in the corps.
