PISCATAWAY, NJ – Three of the four Rutgers University baseball players currently playing in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League (ACBL) have earned a spot in the 35th Annual All-Star Game, which will take place on Monday, July 19, at St. John's University. First baseman Steve Hook (Langhorne, PA) and pitchers Aaron Kalb (Middletown, NJ) and Erik Dial (Basking Ridge, NJ) were named to the Wolff Division All-Star squad.
Hook is hitting a team-best .333 with four home runs and 17 RBI thus far. He owns a .580 slugging percentage and a .480 on-base mark, also best on the team. He leads the league in home runs and is 7th in batting average.
Kalb (3-1, 0.99) is second in the league in ERA. He has worked 35.1 innings, allowing just 24 hits and four earned runs. He has walked 14 and struck out 37. Kalb is fourth in the league in strikeouts, four off the pace. Dial, meanwhile, is 2-0 with a 2.54 ERA. In 28.1 innings of work, he has allowed just 17 hits and eight earned runs, while walking 13 and striking out 25.
All three play for the New Jersey Pilots, which own a league-best mark of 17-10 and a 1.5 game lead for the league championship. The Pilots play their home games at Krausche Field in North Plainfield.
