  • PISCATAWAY, N.J. (September 11, 2013) – With the semester underway at Rutgers, the baseball team is set to begin its fall season Sunday, Sept. 15 at Bainton Field. The Scarlet Knights will jump in right away with an intrasquad scrimmage.

“It is great to have everyone back on campus and to get started on a new year,” said head coach Fred Hill, who is entering his 31st year at the helm of the program. “We have some veterans returning, but a lot of fresh faces. The coaches look forward to working to win a conference title this spring.”

Competition will be the theme of the fall for the Scarlet Knights, as only four starters return from last season. The pitching staff will also look to identify hurlers for all three weekend spots and the closer role. The fall season will conclude with the first annual Scarlet & White World Series in late October.

After reaching the BIG EAST semifinals in 2013, RU will compete in the American Athletic Conference this spring with UCF, Cincinnati, UConn, Houston, Louisville, Memphis, USF and Temple. The league championship will be contested at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla., in May.

The finalized 2014 schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
