PISCATAWAY, N.J. (June 13, 2012) – Rutgers assistant baseball coach Joe Litterio has been promoted to associate head coach, it was announced by head coach Fred Hill on Wednesday. A former infielder for Hill and the Scarlet Knights from 1990-93, Litterio returned to Piscataway in 2012 after a successful 12-year stint as the head coach for Wagner College.

In Litterio’s initial season back “On the Banks”, Hill’s squad won at least 30 games in a season for the 14th time in his tenure (1984-present). Four members of the RU team were named to All-BIG EAST teams, marking the 12th time at least four Scarlet Knights earned all-conference recognition under Hill.

As a Scarlet Knight, Litterio helped lead RU teams to Atlantic 10 regular season titles all four years. His squads earned bids to the NCAA Regionals in 1990, 1991 and 1993. The 1990 Rutgers team came within one win of advancing to the College World Series and recorded the most wins (four) in a single NCAA Tournament in school history.
