PISCATAWAY, NJ – Back-to-back home runs from Dave Williams (Franklin Twp., NJ) and Steve Hook (Langhorne, PA) lifted Rutgers to an 8-4 win in the opener, as Rutgers (32-20, 12-11 BIG EAST) split a doubleheader today with Seton Hall, which rallied for eight runs over the final two innings to win the second game, 10-4. Unfortunately for Rutgers, Notre Dame completed its series sweep of West Virginia with a 7-3 win, thus clinching the fourth and final spot in the BIG EAST Tournament.

May-19-05 Rutgers Rolls Past St. Peter’s, 13-2, in Prelude to SHU Weekend
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers scored in each of the first five innings and sophomore Mark Lampariello (Annandale, NJ) turned in another strong outing, allowing just one earned run over 6.0 innings, as the Scarlet Knights (31-19) beat St. Peter’s (5-42), 13-2, this afternoon at the Class of ’53 Baseball Complex.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Junior outfielder Johnny Defendis (Staten Island, NY) has been named the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association (NJCBA) Division I Player of the Year, highlighting the list of annual award winners from Rutgers. He is also one of five Rutgers players to earn First Team All-State honors.

May-18-05 Hook and Meade Rally Rutgers Past Fordham, 11-9
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Trailing 8-5 with one out in the eighth, junior Steve Hook (Langhorne, PA) hit a bases-loaded triple to tie the game and freshman Frank Meade (Linden, NJ) followed with a single to give RU a 9-8 lead on its way to an 11-9, comeback win over Fordham this afternoon at the Class of ’53 Baseball Complex.

ROCKVILLE, MD – Junior OJ DeChristofano (Pequannock, NJ) allowed just two hits and one run in 7.0 innings and Todd Frazier (Toms River, NJ) scored in the first and hit a two-run homer in the second as Rutgers defeated Georgetown, 5-2, in the series finale this afternoon at Shirley Povich Field.

May-15-05 Rutgers Rallies for Win in Opener, Falls in Nightcap at Georgetown
ROCKVILLE, MD – After rallying for an extra-inning, 8-7 win in the opener, seeing its 7-2 lead disappear in the final inning, Rutgers held a 1-0 lead into the eighth in the nightcap, before a two-run home run gave the Hoyas a 2-1 victory and split of today’s doubleheader, played at Shirley Povich Field.
