February-25-05 Big Inning Carries No. 13 Georgia Tech Past Rutgers, 11-6
ATLANTA, GA – Wes Hodges hit two home runs and a double in his first three at bats and No. 13 Georgia Tech scored eight times in the sixth inning to break the game open and defeat Rutgers, 11-6 in the series opener at Russ Chandler Stadium. Freshman Todd Frazier (Toms River, NJ) homered and added four RBI to pace the Scarlet Knights.

February-21-05 Rodriguez, Kalb Sweep BIG EAST Baseball Awards
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Seniors Cory Rodriguez (Bridgewater, NJ) and Aaron Kalb (Middletown, NJ) have captured the first BIG EAST Player and Pitcher of the Week honors, respectively, of the 2005 season. Both players were instrumental in RU’s season-opening three-game sweep of William & Mary over the weekend.

February-20-05 Rodriguez Comes Through Again as RU Sweeps W&M with 4-1 Win
WILLIAMSBURG, VA – After driving in three of RU’s runs in a 6-3 win on Saturday, senior Cory Rodriguez (Bridgewater, NJ) was once again the hero on Sunday, driving in two runs in the top of the ninth with a one-out to snap a 1-1 tie and propel Rutgers to a 4-1 win over William & Mary this afternoon at Plumeri Park. RU starter Aaron Kalb (Middletown, NJ) allowed just five hits and one run in 8.0 innings, but was matched by W&M starter Joe Kantakevich until the ninth. With the win, RU improves to 3-0, sweeping the series, while W&M falls to 3-3.

February-19-05 Rutgers Makes it Two in a Row with 6-3 Win over W&M
WILLIAMSBURG, VA – Cory Rodriguez (Bridgewater, NJ) banged out three hits with three RBI and Ryan Hill (Hillsdale, NJ) homered for his first collegiate hit and added another RBI to back a strong effort from RU starter Matt Pustay (Hamilton, NJ) and reliever Sean Spicer (Spring River, NY) as Rutgers defeated William & Mary, 6-3, this afternoon. With the win, RU improves to 2-0 for the first time since opening the 2001 season 6-0. W&M is now 3-2.

February-18-05 Frazier Leads Offense in Baseball’s 11-5 Win over William & Mary
WILLIAMSBURG, VA – Making his collegiate debut in the leadoff spot, freshman Todd Frazier (Toms River, NJ) reached base in his first four plate appearances, homered in his second at bat, collected three hits and scored four runs to lead the Rutgers baseball team to an 11-5, season-opening win over William & Mary this afternoon at Plumeri Park.

February-17-05 Rutgers Baseball Opens 2005 With Series at William & Mary
PISCATAWAY, NJ – With six position starters back and a revamped pitching rotation, the Rutgers baseball team will open its 2005 baseball season on Friday afternoon with the first of three games at William & Mary’s Plumeri Park in Williamsburg, VA. Fifth-year senior Tom Malafronte (Somerville, NJ) will start the season opener for the Scarlet Knights.

February-03-05 Freeman, Agnello Join Rutgers Baseball Coaching Staff
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Rutgers University head baseball coach Fred Hill has added two veteran coaches to his staff for the 2005 season in assistant coaches Rick Freeman and Jim Agnello. Freeman will work with the RU pitchers, while Agnello will tutor the team’s catchers and coach first base.

The 2005 Rutgers baseball team has something to prove. The last time the Rutgers baseball team failed to advance to the postseason (1984), nearly half of the current team was not even born. Despite winning 30 games in 2004 for the seventh-straight season, the Scarlet Knights dropped its final six BIG EAST games and finished fifth in the league standings, on the outside looking in at the four-team BIG EAST Baseball Championship. With 26 letterwinners returning, the Scarlet Knights seek to re-establish their rightful place among the conference and region's elite programs.

January-25-05 Todd Frazier Named BIG EAST Preseason Freshman of the Year
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Baseball America, the nation’s leading college baseball magazine, has named Rutgers infielder Todd Frazier as the 2005 Preseason BIG EAST Freshman of the Year. Frazier, the younger brother of Rutgers All-American Jeff Frazier, was cited in the College Preview issue, which hit newsstands this week.
