May-13-14 Sweeney Named Candidate for Gregg Olson Award
Senior Pat Sweeney (Sparta, N.J.) of the Rutgers baseball team has been named a candidate for the 2014 Gregg Olson Award, presented by Toolshed Sports. The award honors college baseball’s “Breakout Player of the Year.”

May-12-14 Brey and Favatella Named to Weekly Honor Roll
After completing the week 4-0, Rutgers baseball had two players earn a spot on the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll. Sophomore left-hander Howie Brey pitched a complete game against USF, while senior second baseman Nick Favatella hit .500 with a .611 on-base percentage.

May-11-14 Baseball Finishes Sweep of USF on Senior Day, 12-2
Rutgers baseball scored four in the first inning and never looked back in a 12-2 victory over USF Sunday at Bainton Field to complete a three-game sweep on Senior Day. It extended the home winning streak to 13 games and eight overall.

May-10-14 Baseball Walks Off in Extras on Fred Hill Day, 5-4
In a memorable day at Bainton Field, Rutgers baseball tied the game versus USF in the ninth and won on a walk-off single by senior Nick Favatella in the 12th to claim a 5-4 victory Saturday. It extended the season-best winning streak to seven games and the home streak to 12.

Sophomore Howie Brey (Middletown, N.J.) pitched a complete game to lead Rutgers baseball past USF, 3-1, in the series opener Friday at Bainton Field. RU has now won a season-best six consecutive games.

Playing to a record of 16-4 at home so far this season, Rutgers baseball will wrap up its home schedule with a three-game series against USF at Bainton Field this weekend. The Scarlet Knights (24-22, 9-8) sit in fourth in the American Athletic Conference standings.

May-06-14 Baseball Tops Saint Peter’s, 7-5
Rutgers baseball recovered from an early deficit to extend its winning streak to five on a 7-5 victory over Saint Peter’s Tuesday at Bainton Field. Senior Nick Favatella led the Scarlet Knights by going 3-for-4 with three runs and a home run.

May-05-14 Baseball Continues Homestand Tuesday
Currently riding a four-game winning streak, Rutgers baseball will play its final non-conference game of the regular season Tuesday at 2 p.m. versus Saint Peter’s at Bainton Field. The contest will be broadcast by WRSU online and at 88.7-FM.

May-05-14 Young Garners Conference Recognition
After pitching deep into extra innings Friday to help Rutgers baseball to a win, junior Jon Young (Old Bridge, N.J.) earned a spot on the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll. The reliever entered in the eighth inning and pitched through the 14th without allowing a run against Temple.
