Pleasant, NJ) – knocked in four runs apiece to lead Rutgers to a 20-0 win over Princeton today at Clarke Field. Rutgers set a new single-game high in runs today, besting its previous total of 18 vs. Pace on March 24. It also won for the 15th time in 16 games, improving to 27-15 overall

May-05-03 Rutgers Baseball Earns a Spot in National Rankings
PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers University baseball team, winners of 14 of its last 15 games and sitting atop the BIG EAST standings with a 15-4 record, is ranked 29th nationally in the latest Collegiate Baseball Top 30 national poll. It is Rutgers’ first appearance in a national poll since ranking 23rd early in the 2002 season.

May-04-03 Rutgers Moves into First Place With 7-5 Win Over UConn
STORRS, CT – Facing Connecticut closer Mike James with the game tied at 5-5 with two outs in the top of the eighth inning, junior Vinny Esposito (Middletown, NJ) laced James’ first offering to the fence in right-center, driving in two runs and giving Rutgers a 7-5 win in the series finale today at J.O. Christian Field.

May-03-03 Rutgers Baseball Splits with Connecticut
STORRS, CT – After winning the opener, 5-3, to extend its winning streak to 13 games, the Rutgers baseball team suffered a 10-7, game two loss, splitting a doubleheader with UConn today at J.O. Christian Field. In the opener, Jack Egbert (Rutherford, NJ) won his seventh-straight game and improved to 6-0 in the BIG EAST with another strong outing, but in the nightcap, a costly fielding error ended RU’s bid for a 14th-straight win.

STATEN ISLAND, NY - Sophomore Cory Rodriguez (Bridgewater, NJ) collected five of Rutgers’ 16 hits as the Scarlet Knights cruised past Wagner, 13-1, Thursday at Richmond County Stadium, home of the Staten Island Yankees.

April-30-03 Shade Triggers Comeback in RU’s 10-7 Win Over Lafayette
EASTON, PA – Senior Leon Shade (Montclair, NJ) entered the game in the bottom of the sixth inning as a defensive replacement, but it was his offense that provided the difference in Rutgers’ 10-7, come-from-behind, 10-inning victory over Lafayette this afternoon. Shade was 2-for-2 with a walk, three RBI and three runs scored as Rutgers rebounded from a 6-1 deficit for its 11th-straight victory in a game that featured 24 hits, 12 errors and took 3:25 to complete. Rutgers is now 23-14 overall.

April-29-03 Rutgers Baseball Shutouts Wagner, 13-0
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Junior Greg Badger (Union, NJ) led a high-powered offensive attack, as the Rutgers University baseball team blanked Wagner, 13-0, for its tenth-straight victory on Tuesday at the Class of ’53 Baseball Complex. Badger was 3-for-4 with two triples and three RBI to help RU improve to 22-14 overall, closing out its 13-game homestand with a 12-2 mark.

April-28-03 Pustay Comes to the Rescue as RU Sweeps Past Virginia Tech, 10-5
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Freshman lefty Matt Pustay (Hamilton, NJ) fired 6.1 innings of three-hit one-run relief as Rutgers rallied for a 10-5 win and three-game series sweep of Virginia Tech in BIG EAST baseball action today at the Class of ’53 Complex.
