January-05-04 Frazier Earns Pair of Preseason All-America Honors
PISCATAWAY, NJ – Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball have both named Rutgers junior Jeff Frazier (Toms River, NJ) to their respective preseason All-America squads. Frazier, who is also a Preseason All-BIG EAST selection, was named a Second Team All-American by both publications. It is the second time both services are honoring Frazier – he was named to their Freshman All-America teams in 2002.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rutgers baseball team, under the guidance of head coach Fred Hill, will open its 2004 season on Friday, February 20, when it travels to Williamsburg, VA for a three-game series with William & Mary. The W&M series represents three of 21-consecutive road games before opening play at the Class of ’53 Baseball Complex vs. Rider on Tuesday, March 30.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Sophomores Johnny Defendis (Staten Island, NY) and Jeff Grose (Iselin, NJ) have signed contracts to spend the upcoming summer with the Chatham A’s of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Grose and Defendis were teammates this past summer in Danbury, CT, playing for the Danbury Westerners of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL).

PISCATAWAY, NJ - The Rutgers University baseball team held its annual end-of-season gathering on Sunday, October 4 at the Class of '53 Baseball Complex, officially closing a highly-successful 2003 campaign. After winning the BIG EAST Regular Season Championship with a 19-6 mark, the Scarlet Knights advanced to the tournament finals and earned their fifth NCAA Tournament berth in the last six seasons.
