Gary Panetta
Athletic Academic Advisor

A native of New Jersey and a lifelong Scarlet Knight, Gary Panetta earned his B.A. in Psychology from Rutgers College in 2008 followed by a Master’s Degree from the School of Social Work, concentrating on non-profit and public management. 

Gary’s responsibilities at Rutgers include serving as an Academic Advisor for field hockey, wrestling, and football.  His duties consist of: monitoring of academic progress and performance, assistance with course selection, completion of course registration, identifying career paths, and counseling on personal issues.  His office is located at the Hale Center on the Busch Campus.

Prior to joining the athletics advising team, he was a member of the Rutgers Transfer Center for the School of Arts and Sciences, facilitating transfer students transition into RU.  There he served as an instructor for a peer mentoring course as well as a “students in transition” seminar.  Gary is also an active member of the National Academic Advisors Association (NACADA) which supports quality advising and enrichment of the collegiate experience.

Gary currently resides in Old Bridge, NJ.
